Michiel Gerretzen
Profile
Michiel Gerretzen received his Master’s Degree (1986) from the Eindhoven University of Technology, Department of Mathematics and Information Science in the Netherlands.
He has more than 30 years of international experience in strategic sourcing, procurement and supply chain management at divisional and corporate level with Philips (Electronics), Avery Dennison, and Flint Group, and as an independent business consultant and interim manager. Related areas of expertise are strategy development & execution, global business transformation and process optimization, change management and team coaching. He was based in Germany, Poland and the Netherlands and held various global leadership positions.
Michiel Gerretzen established an international distribution center for lighting products in Poland (1995), and established a procurement organization for indirect materials & services for Central & Eastern Europe with offices in Warsaw, Vienna and Hamburg (2002) for Philips. He designed and implemented a new global strategic sourcing organization for one of the divisions in Avery Dennison, which became the blue print for the future global corporate procurement organization (2007). As an executive sponsor, he co-led the integration of the global procurement organizations into a Global Procurement group, accountable for managing the procurement of direct and indirect materials, goods and services worth over $ 3B (2010). He received the Avery Dennison Leadership Excellence Award for “Excellence in Execution,”, and was promoted to Vice President Procurement (2010). Michiel was appointed Global VP Procurement Indirect Materials & Services (including Logistics) at Flint Group (2015). He was entrusted with establishing a global Procurement organization and led a major business transformation in the area of IM&S Procurement and Logistics in Flint Group (2018).
Since October 2019, Michiel Gerretzen is leading a global procurement excellence and business transformation program at Akzo Nobel.
Michiel Gerretzen is a certified change manager (Prosci®) and experienced quality auditor.
